Lay Eucharist Ministry
Lay Worship Leaders lead Morning Prayer and assist in all areas of worship. Lay Eucharistic Visitors administer Communion to parishioners who are ill or are unable to attend Sunday or Wednesday Eucharist. For parishioners who are ill or unable to attend the Sunday Eucharist, Lay Eucharist Visitors help fill the physical gap between home and church. Selected and trained by the Parish Priest to administer the elements, these lay people receive the consecrated elements at the conclusion of the 8:00am and 10:30am service on Sundays and the 12:05pm service on Wednesdays. They are commissioned by the celebrant and the congregation to go to homes, hospitals, and nursing homes in the community. Lay Eucharistic Ministers distribute the elements during Holy Eucharist. These positions are licensed by the Bishop. Lectors read the lessons or lead the Prayers of the People. This position is not licensed. Those individuals who participate in these important ministries can expect to rotate the times they serve with others who serve in the same ministry. |
