About the Vestry, Wardens & Standing Committees
The Vestry, the governing body of the parish, consists of nine members, one third of whom are elected for a three year term at each annual parish meeting. Elected for two year terms are a Senior Warden and a Junior Warden. The Treasurer is an Ex-officio member of the Vestry.
As the agents and legal representatives of the parish, the Vestry meets monthly to oversee the temporal affairs of the parish. The Vestry reviews the status of the Parish finances and ministries, as well as supporting the Rector and other clergy to promote the spiritual welfare of the parish. These duties are carried out through standing committees for Finance, Facilities and Programs with each vestry member being responsible for a particular committee.
The Rector presides at all vestry meetings. The Senior Warden is the senior lay officer of the parish and in the absence of a Rector presides over the Vestry. His or her duties are to counsel with the Rector concerning the parish and to assist in promoting projects and activities with general responsibility for all parish programs.
The Junior Warden has the responsibility of all parish properties and serves as chair of the Facilities Committee. |
